Planning a trip this year? Need travel immunizations?
Snorkeling in Belize? Riding an elephant in Thailand? Visiting friends and relatives in India? Revisiting Vietnam? Making a mission trip to Tanzania? Wherever you plan to travel, Brainerd Medical Center has a service that can help you prepare for a safe and healthy trip abroad.
Preventing illness can be as important to your travel as your passport and plane ticket. Under the direction of Drs. David F. Boran and Peter M. Dunphy, both Board certified Family Practice physicians, sharing a common interest in travel medicine, Brainerd medical Center Travel Health Program is available to provide the international traveler with individualized consultation, vaccines, and recommendation that are tailored to the travelers’ destination and personal medical history.
Your pre-travel consultation includes:
- Assessment of medical and vaccination history and travel itinerary.
- Immunizations appropriate for your destination as recommended by the CDC.
- All routine vaccinations are available (Tetanus Diphtheria, Polio, Measles, Mumps, rubella) as well as traveling vaccinations including Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis, Meningococcal Meningitis, Hepatitis A and B, Immune Globulin, and Rabies.
- Medications to prevent Malaria, if necessary, and for the treatment of Travelers’ Diarrhea.
- Information specific to the country you will be visiting such as: Travel warning to US Citizens, terrorist activity, crime, currency issues, traffic/public transportation and phone numbers for the US Embassy.
We are ready to address your concerns about travel health risks and outbreaks, including such issues as traveling with children, senior travel, travel insurance, Malaria and Dengue Fever protection, altitude illness, rabies, and food and water precautions.
We recommend that most travel consultations be scheduled ideally 8 weeks before departure date, however, we will work with the time you have.
