Brainerd Medical Center has been providing healthcare in the region since 1974. Throughout the years, we have expanded our services to best address our patients' needs.  We have developed a broad range of medical specialties, as well as in-house ancillary patient care services. Our state-of-the-art facility,  our convenient location, and extended service hours make Brainerd Medical Center a preferred resource for all ages and healthcare needs.

Nights/Weekends/Holidays

We also provide care after normal business hours. A BMC physician is available after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. Simply call the Medical Message Center at 218-828-7575 , and ask for the BMC doctor who is on call for your physician.

 

Making Appointments

Our computerized scheduling system helps us make appointments that are convenient for you. If possible, please call ahead, so we can give you the most flexibility of available times. If you should call during a peak time and are asked to hold, please be patient and stay on the line. Our scheduling and triage systems enable us to work efficiently, so your wait will be as brief as possible.

Also, because some problems are more urgent and complicated than others, we are unable to predict the length of each appointment. For that reason, your appointment is the approximate time you will see your physician.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. When you do, you are helping another patient benefit from your time slot.

 

Contacting Your Physician

If you need to reach your doctor, call the clinic line during clinic hours. If he or she is in, a message will be sent for your call to be returned, or you may choose to leave a message on voice mail. If your doctor is not in the clinic, your call may be referred to the doctor on call or the triage nurse .

 

UrgentCARE

In case of an emergency, efforts will be made to notify your doctor. If he or she is unavailable, the on-call physician will help you. An on-call physician is available in the clinic every day  to see patients whose conditions require same day attention. If possible, please call ahead if you require UrgentCARE so that we can reserve time for you. Also, there is always a physician on call at the hospital for emergency situations, or when the clinic is closed.

 

Triage Nurse Assistance

Depending on the circumstance, your call may be directed to the triage nurse. He or she can provide an initial assessment of your condition, provide you with information, relay information to your physician, help with appointments, or refer you to appropriate resources.

 

Nutrition Counseling

Registered Dietitians are on staff to provide counseling for special diets, weight control, or preventive nutrition. You or your doctor may make an initial consultation appointment by calling our main appointment number (218-828-2880) and requesting the service. Contact your insurance company to inquire about coverage for this service.

 

Pharmacy

All prescriptions require authorization by a physician before they can be filled by your pharmacist. Requests should be made during office hours, so that your medical record is available. 

For your convenience a drug store is located near the main entry of the clinic building.  We offer several medication management programs (anticoagulation, asthma, hypertension, smoking cessation, and multiple-medication) that are staffed by clinical pharmacists.  Call 218-828-2891 for more information. 

 

Physical/Occupational Therapy

InMotion Physical Therapy, an outpatient physical and occupational therapy clinic, is also located in our building. InMotion is designed to provide physical therapy and rehabilitation services to area clients. Office hours are 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The clinic provides full services to clients upon physician referral. InMotion personnel can assist in processing physical therapy insurance claims. Appointments may be made by calling 218-855-0806.

 

Fees and Payments

Brainerd Medical Center's Patient Accounts Department is designed to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your account. As a convenience to you, our Patient Accounts Department directly bills most insurance claims and will help you with any insurance questions you may have.

Charges for office visits are determined by the length of the visit and complexity of the services rendered. We expect payment at the time of your visit, especially if your insurance plan requires a co-pay amount.

 

Release of Information

We believe the patient/doctor relationship is highly personal and private. Therefore, while a complete and confidential medical record is maintained on all clinic visits, no information will be released without your consent.
