ANTICOAGULATION MANAGEMENT SERVICE
The Anticoagulation Management Service (AMS) is for patients taking Coumadin® or warfarin. We provide patient education about your medication and also monitor your therapy with a finger stick blood test.
The goals of this program include:
Monitoring your lab values (PT, INR) and adjusting your Coumadin® dose as needed.
-
Providing you with appropriate education and teaching, including diet and exercise education
-
Reviewing all medications and providing you with a resource for answering questions pertaining to Coumadin® and other medications.
Coumadin® is a medication used to thin the blood to prevent clots from forming in patients with an irregular heartbeat, history of stroke or clotting disorders, and other conditions. STROKE WARNING SIGNS:
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or coordination
- Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
Not all of these warning signs occur in every stroke.
If some start to occur—don't wait!
